CTB Permanent Magnetic Drum Separator is a widely used wet permanent magnetic separation device specifically designed for the separation of strongly magnetic minerals. It is suitable for various stages, including pre-selection, rough selection, and fine selection. With a wide range of feed particle sizes, it can handle materials from 2 to 10mm.
The magnetic system uses high-performance neodymium iron boron materials to ensure a strong magnetic field depth. The drum surface can be lined with wear-resistant rubber, enhancing the equipment’s durability.

Working Principle
When the GZT series vibrating feeder starts working, The slurry flows into the tank through the feeding box. Under the action of water flow from the feeding spray pipe, the mineral particles enter the feeding area in a loose state. In the magnetic field, magnetic mineral particles gather into “magnetic clusters” or “magnetic chains” and move toward the magnetic poles, adhering to the surface of the drum under the guidance of magnetic force.
Since the magnetic system is arranged alternately along the rotation direction of the drum and remains stationary, the magnetic clusters or chains experience magnetic alternation as the drum rotates, generating magnetic stirring. During this process, non-magnetic minerals such as gangue fall off due to the agitation. The magnetic clusters or chains adhering to the drum surface become the concentrate.
The concentrate follows the drum’s rotation to the edge of the magnetic system where the magnetic force is weaker. There, the concentrate is washed off into the concentrate tank by the flushing water from the discharge pipe. If a full magnetic roller is used, a brush roller is employed for discharge. Non-magnetic or weakly magnetic minerals remain in the slurry and are discharged from the tank with the slurry, becoming tailings.

The magnetic system uses neodymium iron boron magnets with high magnetic energy product and high coercivity. The magnetic field intensity is high, and the demagnetization rate is less than 5% within 8 years, ensuring stable magnetic separation.

The large wrap angle magnetic system design with a gradual change in field intensity and smooth transition increases the length of the separation zone and the number of magnetic flips. This achieves efficient separation of magnetic minerals from non-magnetic (or weakly magnetic) minerals, improving concentrate quality.
Durable and Safe Design
The magnetic system is coated with non-magnetic stainless steel to prevent magnet detachment, extending the equipment’s lifespan. The drum is made of non-magnetic stainless steel and lined with wear-resistant rubber, significantly enhancing its durability.
