Working Principle
The Inclined Plate Thickener consists of an upper tank and a lower cone. The upper tank houses an array of inclined plate sets, which are made up of multiple independent inclined plate units.
Material enters the inclined plate units from both sides at the bottom. The overflow weir located above the inclined plate sets features throttling orifices that create a hydraulic back pressure for the external overflow, ensuring uniform loading across the inclined plate units and preventing radial turbulence.
The side-fed, semi-counterflow feeding method allows the descending solid particles and ascending clarified liquid to flow separately without interference. The thickened slurry sliding down the inclined plates enters the lower cone, where it undergoes compression and dewatering. The dewatered material is then discharged either by gravity or with mechanical vibration assistance.
The thickening process occurs within each individual inclined plate channel. Fine particle overflow or clarified water is directly discharged laterally from each channel’s overflow surface, shortening the overflow discharge path. This design effectively prevents fine particle short-circuiting and recycling issues, ensuring high grading and thickening efficiency. The water recovery rate typically exceeds 70%, significantly enhancing the overall performance of the equipment.
